Sticky Honey-Orange Chicken Wings by RiA

I'm back again after almost a year of not posting. I'm finally here again to share with you the recipes of some of the dishes I cooked and got from food magazines, internet and acquired from family. Some of them were invented and some were improved and revised. I will post the recipe I have shared through my FB almost a year now. When I posted it, many of my friends liked it. So I figured that I will share the recipe here. This dish is so delicious and very easy to make. I did this a couple of times after I discovered it. I got it from "Yummy Magazine" March 2011 issue. The first time I did this, I don't have an orange so I substituted a couple of calamansi and it was so good.


Here are the Ingredients:
FOR THE COATING
1 cup All purpose flour
1 teaspoon five-spice powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
cooking oil, for deep frying
12 pieces chicken wings

FOR THE HONEY-ORANGE GLAZE
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon ginger, sliced very thinly (or grated)
1 tablespoon grated orange zest (substitute: calamansi or lemon)
1/2 cup honey

PROCEDURE:
In a small bowl, mix together flour, five-spice powder, salt and pepper. Heat oil in a medium sauce pan. Coat wings well with the flour mixture and fry for 10 to 15 minutes or until parts turn golden brown. Remove from heat and drain on paper towel. TO make the honey-orange glaze: In a medium saucepan, heat oil on medium heat and saute ginger for 1 minute. Add grated orange peel (or the substitute) then add honey. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Place wings in batches in the pan and toss to coat the wings with the glaze. Serve as desired.
This is a recommended recipes that I am sure you'll love. It has the sweetness and citrus flavor that blends in together with the ginger. Once it has been coated, it retains the crispiness of the chicken. So it is so good. Hope you'll try this and share it with me. Until my next dish! See yah!
